Mantles don’t fall in fields

By Ray Grondin

I joined the CTF Global Advance in Bulgaria. It was great to connect with our global family, catch fresh vision, get impartation, and eat some Bulgarian yogurt!

God did a lot through the conference, and I would like to share about one of the night sessions, led by Ken Gott. His message had the theme, “Mantles don’t fall in fields.”

It was based on Elisha’s story (1 Kings 19, 2 Kings 2). Elisha had been working in the field when Elijah came to get him. Elisha decided to leave everything behind—his animals and equipment—and just follow Elijah. Later, Elijah would be taken up to heaven. But Elisha received Elijah’s cloak as a “mantle” of the double portion of the prophetic anointing that Elijah had on his life.

The point of the message was that Elisha would not have stepped into his God-given destiny had he just stayed in his field. For Elisha, the field could mean financial security, and working there was probably something he was skilled at doing. Leaving the field could feel scary and uncertain about what would happen next. But, because Elisha followed Elijah by faith, he was in the right place at the right time when Elijah was taken to heaven, and Elisha stepped into God’s promises for his life.

After the message, many people went to the front of the room to receive impartation. It was a powerful and holy moment. I personally felt something being released over Japan and the call to disciple our nation. It was an invitation for me to leave my fields of “small vision” and “comfort” and step out in bold faith like a lion and begin to reign over Japan like a king.

What about you? Do you have any fields to leave behind so you can step more fully into God’s promises for your life?
